1. Samuel 16

Samuel 4

BUT it does not answer the question of WHEN did David become King.

Undoubtable, David was anointed King in 1 Samuel 16 when the Spirit left King Saul and rushed upon King David.



However, King David was not recognized as King of Judah until 2 Samuel 2:4 and not King of Israel until 2 Samuel 4:3.



Why the delay? All because King David is a type of King Jesus. The Lord Jesus was announced in Luke 1* and anointed in John 1* but not recognized until the gospel of the kingdom was proclaimed which matches 2 Samuel 2:4.



2 Samuel 4:3 matches the passages in the New Testament where the Lord Jesus is seated upon the throne and every knee shall bow and ever tongue shall confess, “Jesus is Lord!”

I think that was right after God said he would take the kingdom from him and give it to another. Samuel also said that saul would have him killed. So God allowed the anointing's meaning to be hidden. Shortly afterwards, David is out fighting goliath. And even during the time samuel was helping God pick out the right person, samuel got stuck on appearance like most all of us do, and the Lord rebuked him for it. To me, it is obvious they were picking out a new king.

Well Tom it is really rewarding to hear that all that time I spent sharing these things with you were not forgotten. You made my day.

There are many passages telling of when the men of Israel accepted David as King. But even though God is humble enough to tell of the decisions of men, we are also told of how God regards the actions of men.

God anointed David as King, then who could say David was not then King. Could the commands of God be delayed by the actions of any man ? Or did God anoint David too soon ? When God spoke, "Let there be light" did light come then, or did it come years later ? It was the job of the King to protect Israel. When Goliath made his threats, who protected Israel, Saul of David ? David protected Israel because he was King. Saul sat shaking in his tent. Why had Saul, who was a head taller than everyone in Israel, and who had shown such bravery when he was King, turned into such a coward ? Could it be that he was no longer King and God had taken His special blessing from Saul ?

The Lord Rejects Saul as King


15 Samuel said to Saul, “I am the one the Lord sent to anoint you king over his people Israel; so listen now to the message from the Lord.² This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. ³ Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Certainly that passage reveals that God took the Kingdom away from Saul that very DAY, and gave it to another, who was David.

When is a man born again ? Is it when men recognize a person as born again ? OR is it when The Holy Spirit enters that person and his spirit goes from being dead to being alive ? It is when The Holy Spirit enters a man that he is born again, not when mere men accept a person as being born again.

When is a man born again ? Is it when men recognize a person as born again ? OR is it when The Holy Spirit enters that person and his spirit goes from being dead to being alive ? It is when The Holy Spirit enters a man that he is born again, not when mere men accept a person as being born again.

Never in all of history has the church been so poor in knowledge. It is indeed when God says one is born again, they are born again. The word of men is nothing; only if inspired by God is it something. We have totally gone away from asking Jesus what the scripture means and consult men for the meaning. Heaven help us! That's totally correct when God put David king and removed saul. There might have been hope had he actually repented, but he kept fighting samuel to justify what he'd done. Just like the church today. It was sad then, and is sad now.
