  • Who was the first prophet?

    Luke 1:70 says there have been holy prophets since the world began. Who was the first prophet?

    Zechariah’s Song

    “ 67 His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:

    68 “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
    because he has come to his people and redeemed them.
    69 He has raised up a horn of salvation for us
    in the house of his servant David
    70 (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago),
    71 salvation from our enemies
    and from the hand of all who hate us—
    72 to show mercy to our ancestors
    and to remember his holy covenant,
    73 the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
    74 to rescue us from the hand of our enemies,
    and to enable us to serve him without fear
    75 in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

    76 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
    for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,
    77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation
    through the forgiveness of their sins,
    78 because of the tender mercy of our God,
    by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
    79 to shine on those living in darkness
    and in the shadow of death,
    to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

    80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the wilderness until he appeared publicly to Israel. “

    The first Prophet was the Lord Himself. He said “let there be light” and there was light. Everything He spoke in Genesis 1 came to pass as He said.

    In Genesis 3 God spoke this prophecy to Satan, Eve and Adam:

    “ 14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,

    “Cursed are you above all livestock
    and all wild animals!
    You will crawl on your belly — DISEASE
    and you will eat dust————FAMINE
    all the days of your life.
    15 And I will put enmity
    between you and the woman,——WAR
    and between your offspring[a] and hers;
    he will crush your head,
    and you will strike his heel.”

    16 To the woman he said,

    “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;————DISEASE
    with painful labor you will give birth to children.
    Your desire will be for your husband,——————————FAMINE
    and he will rule over you.”——————————————-WAR

    17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’

    “Cursed is the ground because of you;
    through painful toil you will eat food from it—————-WAR
    all the days of your life.
    18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,—————FAMINE
    and you will eat the plants of the field.
    19 By the sweat of your brow
    you will eat your food
    until you return to the ground,
    since from it you were taken;
    for dust you are
    and to dust you will return.” “———THE FINAL DISEASE DEATH

    The Holy Spirit pointed this truth out through Jeremiah 28 TLB

    “8 The ancient prophets who preceded you and me spoke against many nations, always warning of war, famine, and plague.

    9 So a prophet who foretells peace has the burden of proof on him to prove that God has really sent him. Only when his message comes true can it be known that he really is from God.” “

    When man sins he brings war, famine, and plague upon himself. This is to cause man to repent and go back to obeying God instead of disobeying God. Trusting God brings life and disobedience to God brings death.
