Belief That Saves and Does Not Save

The believers in John 3:16 have eternal life.

In James 2:19 the believing demons shudder.

John 3:16 English Standard Version (ESV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. James 2:19 English Standard Version (ESV)

You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!

    Question:

What is the difference between the use of believe in these two verses?

    Answer:

Demons are rebelling against the LORD or disobeying.

Demons shudder because the day of their judgment approaches.

The believers who have eternal life are submitting to or obeying the LORD rather than rebelling.

Condensed, the demon rebels against the LORD while the Christian obeys.

    Comment:

A saving belief in the LORD is a belief where the believer follows, obeys, submits, and loves rather than rebels where he allows his own ideas to rule his behavior and thoughts.
