Why do people claim that Satan was in the garden of Eden and was the one that mislead Eve when there is no mention of Satan anywhere? The snake was one of many animals.

There is very good reason to say the snake is Satan:
Genesis 3
New International Version
The Fall
3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
NOTE: This statement By God would imply that Satan is not one of the wild animals. If one says the serpent was more crafty then any of the OTHER wild animals, then that would say the serpent is one of the wild animals. BUT God says the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals. This would say that the serpent is not one of the wild animals. For the serpent was more crafty than ANY wild animal, not the most crafty of all the wild animals. The other clue here is that animals do not talk on their own accord.
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
NOTE: no animal can reason like this and trap humans by that reasoning.
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,
“Cursed are you above all livestock
and all wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly - DISEASE
and you will eat dust …………..FAMINE
all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity
between you and the woman, ..WAR
and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.”
16 To the woman he said,
“I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;………DISEASE
with painful labor you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,………………………FAMINE
and he will rule over you.”…………………………………WAR
17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’
“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it…………..WAR
all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,………FAMINE
and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”………..THE FINAL DISEASE - DEATH
Matthew 8
28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29 “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”
30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. 31 The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”
32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
We see in the passage above that demons like to possess a body of flesh. They lived in this man and when Jesus made them leave the man, they went into the pigs.
We can see from all of this that Satan likes to possess a body of flesh. He was living in the serpent, but it was Satan doing the speaking. Satan disguises himself and never appears to us as himself. He never tells the truth, but is the father of lies. He did not want Eve to know it was him, but disguised himself as an innocent serpent.
But for those who still do not know:
Rev 20 NIV
The Thousand Years
20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
