If we come from Adam and Eve, why don't we just speak Hebrew like them?

The US started out as a British colony. It has only been about 400 years and the US does not speak the same language as the British today. One can tell they are closely related but they are also quite different. If a US citizen went to parts of London they would not be able to understand the person from Britain.
It has been far longer from today back to Adam and Eve. Certainly there are now many different languages. Language changes in the same nation over time. We speak quite different today that when I was very young.
Have you ever read the story about Babylon in the Bible. It states that God changed their languages so they could not understand each other.
