If God made Earth in 7 days, who made all the other planets, and how long did it take?
    Genesis 1 (NIV)

    The Beginning

“1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” - God not only created the earth but He created the entire heavens. Look down and God created the earth. Look up and God created all of what we call space.

    John 1 (NIV)

    The Word Became Flesh

“ 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. “

There is one and only one God. That God came down from heaven and was born of a woman to become one of us so that he could die for our sins. God created everything that exists, including all of the planets in our solar system and other star systems.

Genesis 1 does NOT tell us how long God took to create the world:

    Genesis 1 (NIV)

    The Beginning

“ 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. “

Notice that God called the LIGHT the first day. We use the word like that yet today. Is it day or night out. We call the light, “day”.

Also notice that it was evening and then there was morning. A 24 hour day ( which we use to measure time ) is from sunup to sunup, not night time to daytime. You can have darkness and the sun can come up an hour later. So you can not measure time by the fact that it is dark and light comes.

Genesis 1 is not about time but it is about the coming of light.
