  • I am surprised by the weights I can lift

I have posted before that I tore my upper rotator cuff muscle with a complete tear. The muscle was separated from the tendon by about 1/2". I was told I would never have much strength unless I had surgery to repair it.

I went to my Chiropractor for several months to help with the pain and then started physical therapy about a month ago. I was not able to do a pushup when I started physical therapy. The last visit was able to do 10 without pain or pushing it.

I joined the YMCA to work out with my Chiropractor and tutor him in math while we worked out. Our first workout will be Tuesday Jan 16. But I started working out as soon as I got my membership.

Tonight was my 3rd workout and I was able to see improvement in my running and the weight machines. I was able to do sets on the back machine with 208 pounds which encouraged me somewhat. But my back was not involved in the injury, but it has been many years since I worked out with weights, but I did not push it on any machines. But I was able to do a set of ten pullovers with 150# which is what I weigh. I did not push it at all and could have done 20. I was really encouraged and my progress is making me wonder if The Lord did a healing in my shoulder. I have not had the surgery. A pull-over is a hard exercise for most people and few can do one with their own weight. Most men can bench press far more than they can pull-over.

Whatever the reason I am really thankful to be able to have this kind of progress at age 74 after an injury like that.

The Lord Jesus is full of mercy and grace.

150# with a torn rotator cuff? Are you able to leap tall buildings with a single bound? That is amazing Lou. I am so glad that the Lord decided to heal you rather than have you go through surgery. That means He is probably going to heal your heart too. Praise Jesus for His mercy and kindness.
You really should document all the miraculous events in your life. I'm left speechless when I hear about some of them. Blessings........ Steve

Thanks for the reply Steve. The Lord is indeed full of mercy and grace. I have nothing I can be proud of. Because everything I have has been given to me from the Lord through my parents. I was born this way. A person has no reason to be proud of how they were born.

I was pleased with the pull-overs and back machne, but I was very weak in the bench press and could only press the empty bar in the overhead press.

It is very interesting that you ask me to write about the miracles in my life. I have been thinking a lot about this and can not seem to get it out of my mind. I thought that maybe it would be considered prideful to do so. But I would like everyone to know how The Lord does miracles and they should expect miracles in their life.

I agree with brother Steve. And please take it very easy. I thank the Lord daily, often several times a day, for health and healing. He is the Lord who Heals us, even if it doesn't seem like a supernatural feat. Thank you, Lord, for healing us.

Amen brothers. And, if you can get your memoirs published, you might have another income however humble it may be. People, or the Lord, may want this shared with the world. Let the Spirit inspire you and it will come out okay.

Hi Steve, I just do not see why anyone would want to read about my life. Of course it would not really be about my life, but about what The Lord has done in my life.

I worked again tonight. I just did the should exercises the Physical Therapist gave me and then did a workout on the weight machines with really light weights. I also walked an ran 4 miles. I feel stronger every time I work out. The Lord Jesus is full of mercy and grace.

I really thank everyone that prayed for my shoulder. I can not say for sure if the Lord healed my rotator cuff, but I do know I am able to do far more than they said I could do without the surgery.

Today I did a set of 10 pull-overs with 170# and it is starting to feel like I have some weight on the bar. I know I can do more and hope to do 190# next week. I am not doing the max with weight or reps on any exercise.

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I have had no internet or phone for about a week. I lost my cell phone the same day and had no cell. AT&T is just terrible service.

But today I went to the YMCA and did 210# on the pull-over machine. That made my day.

                    Thank you Jesus.

I'm glad your shoulder is doing this well, Lou. Praise the Lord.

I ditched AT&T for Ting. Was paying AT&T about $60 a month. Ting Wireless is hosted by Sprint. It is pay as you go. There is a small monthly maintenance fee. I use my phone very little: messages, phone calls, and navigator data to check traffic on my routes when I'm out. The SIM card cost $9 at Amazon. So far I have paid between $20 and $25 per month. Been happy with the service.

Thanks Barry. My problem is that I get my internet over my phone line by AT&T. I can get internet by cable but it costs more. Also I do not have unlimited minutes with my cell. I have a cell that I pay $100 for the year and only get 800 minutes for the year, so my landline is my major phone. Any suggestions ?

Also I use my landline to counsel people and sometimes have phone conversations that last over an hour.

I haven't found a solution that cheap. If you have AT&T internet they cut you a break when you bundle other services like cell phone.

To update everyone on my progress with lifting weights:

Today in my workout I did a set with 250# on the pull-over machine. To see if this machine was for real, I asked Ryan to see how much he could do on it. Ryan is 60 and has been lifting all his life and he is much bigger than me. I would guess 200# of lean muscle.

Ryan did set with 250# and then said that was all he could do. Ryan is very strong so now I know the pull-over machine is for real.

The Lord Jesus is full of mercy and grace.
