  • Would or Could and Convicts or Converts

    Matthew 7:17-18 NASB
17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.
Kind of Tree Kind of Fruit Impossible Fruit
Good Tree Good Fruit Bad Fruit
Bad Tree Bad Fruit Good Fruit
The fruit a person produces is dependant upon the source.
Bad fruit comes from being slaves to the deceiver.
Good fruit comes from being slaves to Christ Jesus.

    Romans 6:16 NASB
Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?

As the slave belonging to the deceiver you will hear the disgusting exclamation,
“I never thought I would do that.”

As the slave belonging to Christ Jesus you will hear the wonder of righteousness,
“I never thought I could do that.”

Convicts might say, “I never thought I would do that.”

Converts will say, “I never thought I could do that.”
