How has the daily reading of the Bible affected your life?

    Lou Newton

I have been studying the Bible for 44 years and my life has changed completely. I wondered about the Books that claimed to be from God and decided to read them for myself.

I started to read the KJV version of the Bible and I could not understand it. It brought fear to my mind. But looking back I was reading a language that they spoke back in the 1600’s in another country. I stopped reading it for some time.

But I had heard stories from the Bible since childhood and those stories had a huge effect on my life that I was not aware of. The stories I had heard about Jesus made me love who He was said to be. But I did not know if they were true. But deep down I hoped they were true.

There is a passage in the Bible that I see now is true:

John 3:18 TLB ““There is no eternal doom awaiting those who trust him to save them. But those who don’t trust him have already been tried and condemned for not believing in the only Son of God.

19 Their sentence is based on this fact: that the Light from heaven came into the world, but they loved the darkness more than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

20 They hated the heavenly Light because they wanted to sin in the darkness. They stayed away from that Light for fear their sins would be exposed and they would be punished.

21 But those doing right come gladly to the Light to let everyone see that they are doing what God wants them to.” “

The Lord revealed to me that those who come to the light have always loved the light and hated darkness.

I became aware that I loved truth and hated deception. I was drawn to love and rejected hate. I prayed and asked God to reveal the Truth to me. I was not aware but He led me to a Bible that I could better understand. It was a NIV and TLB parallel Bible. It had both translations in it. I had never seen one before or since.

I also read the Koran. I found it the most bring book I have ever read. How anyone could believe this book was from God is beyond me. There is not one word about love or truth. In fact Allah states that he is the “Chief Deceiver” in the Koran. Now there have been many deceivers in the world and Allah claims he is the biggest deceiver of them all. Anyone who thinks for them self should be able to see Allah deceives those who follow him because he deceives everyone, he is Chief of all who lie. I choose to follow one who is The Truth instead. I love truth and hate deception.

I read the Book of Mormon and found it to be one of the worst books I have ever read. It is like it was written by someone who had absolutely no education. It tries to sound like the Bible by using some of the words and phrases from the Bible, but fails. It is full of errors and was written by someone who did not understand the Bible at all.

The second time I read in the Bible I prayed and asked God to help me understand it. He answered my prayer and revealed deep truths to me. The more I read the Book the deeper it got.

After a short time, I asked my Creator to forgive my sins and become the King of my life. I asked Him to lead me and guide me and cause me to follow Him instead of me making my own decisions. The Bible became much more interesting after I gave my life to Him.

I read The book every day and it is deeper every day. The more I read it, the more wonderful it becomes. The Bible did not change my life. It is mere paper and ink and has no power of it’s own. The Author of The Book changed my life for He has all power and authority in the universe.

He has preformed many miracles in my life. He has healed me many times. I would not want to walk one step without Him today.

His Holy Spirit has come into my spirit and He dwells in me. He walks with me and talks with me everyday. Think of how wonderful it is to have the Creator of everything that exists to walk and talk with you.

    Galatians 5 NIV

“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. “

He has taken my hate and given me love. He took my depression and gave me joy. I used to be very anxious but He has given me peace. I used to hate myself and the things I used to do. Now I love myself and the things Jesus leads me to do.

Thank you so very much Blane. Sometimes it is difficult to be motivated to write these not knowing if anyone will read them. I try to remember that I am writing to please Jesus and no one else.
