History of Donald Trump: Bible Hebrides Revival
Your point in posting this?
Is it to pray for revival?
Or is it what Dr. Clarence Sexton seems to be suggesting?
Which seems to be that having the Hebrides Revival Bible in the oval office provides some magical force to Donald Trump's presidency?
In the past you have been adamant that the Bible is just a book – just ink and paper.
The Bibles I have used for ministry, even though these Bibles are of high quality, do not last very long before becoming tattered with pages falling out.
Daily use of a Bible, used and carried with me, lasts me about seven years.
A Bible from the 1949 Hebrides revival is now 70 years old – ten times as old as my Bible lasts.
Maybe it wasn't used much in the revival, but it certainly not been used much since then for it to last so long.
I guess it doesn’t matter if the importance of this Bible is its magic rather than its message.
I have some of my grandparents last Bibles. They are in terrible condition. I keep them for sentimental reasons only. I guess that might be why the President keeps the Hebrides Revival Bible in the oval office.
George W. Bush read his oval office Bible everyday while President.
Glen this is one of the most disappointing replies you have ever sent me.
I have never claimed any Bible to have magical powers. I have never claimed any man to have magical powers. There is One and Only One power in this universe, and that is The Lord Jesus Christ. I have always said ( sometimes you disagreed) that Jesus is our One and Only Hope. No Bible is our hope. My Hope is in the Author of the Bible. Why would you accuse me, Dr Sexton, and Trump of promoting magic ?
Here is what God says in the Bible:
1 Corinthians 13 TLB
13 If I had the gift of being able to speak in other languages without learning them and could speak in every language there is in all of heaven and earth, but didn’t love others, I would only be making noise. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy and knew all about what is going to happen in the future, knew everything about everything, but didn’t love others, what good would it do? Even if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, I would still be worth nothing at all without love. 3 If I gave everything I have to poor people, and if I were burned alive for preaching the Gospel but didn’t love others, it would be of no value whatever.
4 Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, 5 never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. 6 It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. 7If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him.
8 All the special gifts and powers from God will someday come to an end, but love goes on forever. Someday prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge—these gifts will disappear. 9 Now we know so little, even with our special gifts, and the preaching of those most gifted is still so poor. 10 But when we have been made perfect and complete, then the need for these inadequate special gifts will come to an end, and they will disappear.
11 It’s like this: when I was a child I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I became a man my thoughts grew far beyond those of my childhood, and now I have put away the childish things. 12 In the same way, we can see and understand only a little about God now, as if we were peering at his reflection in a poor mirror; but someday we are going to see him in his completeness, face-to-face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now.
13 There are three things that remain—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
Back when the election of 2016 was drawing near a dear member of our web site posted that obviously Hillary was going to win and we should resign to that fact. I disagreed with that attitude and got on my knees at the end of my bed. I cried out to the Lord and asked Him to please help us as he was our One and Only Hope.
Jesus answered me at that very moment and told me that Hillary was NOT going to win, but Trump was going to win the election. I posted this fact on our web site that night. Trump did win contrary to what almost everyone was saying.
Trump was always a man I had a difficult time liking. But I have seen that he claims to be trusting in Jesus to save him and us. How did you walk when you were first saved ? I know I did so terrible that almost everyone told me that I was not saved at all. I myself had a very difficult time believing that I was saved, especially with all my so called Christian brothers and sisters telling me that I was not saved. BUT they were all wrong. I had truly given my life to Jesus and He holds me in His hand and NO ONE can remove me from His hand. I have this same hope for Mr Trump.
I do not think Mr Trump needs our scorn, but could use our prayers and encouragement. I for one, hope and pray for him. I encourage others to do the same. Are we not told to pray for our leaders.
As far as how long can Bibles last: I have a many Bibles and so I do not have even one that is beyond use. I have one Parallel Translation with the NIV and TLB that is very frail, I have read it so much. BUT I still carry this to Bible study every Friday. Why, because it has so many of my notes in it and two of my favorite translations. You do not like either, but this Bible is not for you, but for me. I prayed and asked The Lord what translation should I read. I walked into a Bible store and this Bible seemed to jump off of the shelf at me. I picked it up and The Lord said this Bible is for you. Of course Jesus was right and He has used it to speak to me more than any other. That Bible is only paper and ink, but it is a gift from Jesus and because of that, I value it. That Book does not speak to me, but Jesus speaks to me as I am reading it. It is over 40 years old and still in use everyday. If Trump cherishes that Bible because it was a gift from his mother, I think that commendable. Why would we not think the best of Mr Trump instead of the worse.
As far a George Bush: I am not his judge but I would not choose to do what he has done. What good is it to read the Bible everyday if you pay no attention to how God hates it when people kill their own children. God sent Israel to destroy the Canaanites because they were sacrificing their own children by throwing then alive into the fire. Our nation is doing the same as we speak. Mothers actually have their babies pulled apart while they are alive. I have seen ultra sounds of these murders and the baby is in tremendous horror. How anyone could be so heartless as to support such cruelty is beyond me. But George Bush actually came out and supported Biden, who voices strong support for the murder of these babies. Donald Trump stands strongly against these murders. I do not hate George Bush, but I do hate his support for Biden who supports the murder of the most innocent.
I fully believe this: If these millions of babies were aware of the truth and they could vote, not even ONE of them would vote for Joe Biden. Who would vote for their own murder ?
To vote for any Democrat is to vote for the murder of these innocent babies. That issue alone says I can not vote for a Democrat.
If Joe Biden said, if he won, he was going to kill you and your whole family; and Trump said he would protect you and your whole family; then I would bet you would not vote for Joe Biden and no other issue would matter.
Just as all other issues about Hitler pale in comparison to his murder of 6 million Jews; all other issues pale in comparison to the murder of millions of innocent babies being pulled apart alive.
Jeremiah 1:5 ESV /
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Isaiah 49:5 ESV
And now the Lord says, he who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him; and that Israel might be gathered to him— for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord, and my God has become my strength—
Galatians 1:15 ESV
But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace,
I ask this question: how many babies that were chosen by God to be His servants have been murdered in the womb ?
Dear brother, I do love you and hope you will rethink about your reply. I am certainly not your judge. But please seek the Only One who is.
