    Can you explain Romans 5:10?

Lou Newton, former Steel Mill Crane Designer and Physics Teacher

    Romans 10 NIV

“9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

We have been forgiven by God through the death of His only Son, Jesus Christ, by His shed blood. But if we give our life to Him He will then come to dwell in our spirit with His Holy Spirit. His Holy Spirit will cause our dead spirit to be born again, or come to new life. His Holy Spirit will then guide us into all truth and save us from our sinful flesh. By His death we are forgiven, but by His Life ( His Holy Spirit) we are saved.

The word SAVED in the Greek is in the present ongoing tense. It means we ARE saved, we are BEING SAVED, and we WILL BE SAVED.

We are saved when we are born again by His Holy Spirit coming to dwell in our spirit. Our spirit then wants to always follow Jesus.

We are being saved in our soul from all the wrong beliefs and wrong emotions that our soul has.

When Jesus returns we will be saved when He gives us new body to replace our selfish flesh.
