Ronda we really miss you and what you add to our group. It is simply not the same without you. We are praying for you. Below is the passage we studied and the things The Holy Spirit revealed to me about it:

    Genesis 24 NIV

    Isaac and Rebekah

24 Abraham was now very old, and the Lord had blessed him in every way. 2 He said to the senior servant in his household, the one in charge of all that he had, “Put your hand under my thigh. 3 I want you to swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living, 4 but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac.”

5 The servant asked him, “What if the woman is unwilling to come back with me to this land? Shall I then take your son back to the country you came from?”

6 “Make sure that you do not take my son back there,” Abraham said. 7 “The Lord, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, ‘To your offspring I will give this land’—he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there. 8 If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there.” 9 So the servant put his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and swore an oath to him concerning this matter.

What is the message of this passage ? God is revealing things about His only begotten Son Jesus:

Why was Abraham ancient in his days before God directed him to get a bride for Isaac ?

Because God, The Ancient of Days, waited many many years to get a Bride for His Son Jesus.

Why did Abraham send his servant to get a wife for Isaac ?

Because God sent His Servant, His Holy Spirit, to get a bride for Christ.

Why did Abraham tell his servant to go to a far off land for Isaac's bride ?

Because God sent His Holy Spirit to a far off land, the earth, to get a Bride for Christ.

Why did Abraham tell His servant to find a close relative for the bride of Isaac ?

Because God had to become a man to be able to die for us. He had to become a close relative ( a man) to show that He understood our plight. So God became close relative to He would have His bride.

Why did Abraham release his servant from the oath if the woman was unwilling to come back with him to the promised land ( Israel ) ?

Because The Holy Spirit is released from His oath to bring all, if any are unwilling He is not to bring them back with Him to the promised land ( heaven)

Why did Abraham tell his servant to not take Isaac back to the land of his relatives ?

Because God called Abraham to Himself, to the City of the great King, Salem. Salem is where the King of Righteousness dwelt here on the earth. Jesus was called to the place where God dwells, heaven. He will dwell forever there with His Bride.
