Why is the color of angels and God white? Why is it not black?

God is light and there is no darkness in Him at all. Light is white. Darkness is the absence of light and therefore is blackness to our eyes.

    1 John 1 NIV

“ 5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. “

The natural is a sign of the spiritual. So in the natural God appears as white light to us.

    Genesis 1 (NIV)

    The Beginning

“ 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. “

This should not be inferred to mean that God does not love people with black or dark brown skin. God created all people and He shed His blood to save all people no matter the color of their skin.

God does not always appear as white to us. God appeared as fire, and had a rainbow over His head in some appearances.

    Ezekiel 1 NIV

26 Above the vault over their heads was what looked like a throne of lapis lazuli, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man. 27 I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him. 28 Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.

This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking.

If some people want to think that white skin makes them superior they should remember that both Hitler and Stalin had white skin and were two of the most evil men that ever walked this earth. Even more Satan appears as an Angel of Light, but of course is really an Angel of Darkness.

God appears as glowing hot metal and fire in Ezekiel and I do not see many trying to imitate God that way. Some of my brothers and sisters have dark skin and God loves them dearly and so do I.
