There are a lot of good writings out there that have an unkown author. I plan on putting some of them together here, please feel free to share as well:

    Judge Gently

Pray, don't find fault with the man that limps
    Or stumbles along the road.
Unless you have worn the shoes he wears
    Or struggled beneath his load

There may be tacks in his shoes that hurt
    Though hidden away from view
Or the burden he bears placed on your back
Might cause you to stumble too

Don't sneer at the man who's down today
Unless you have felt the blow
That caused his fall or felt the shame
    That only the fallen know

You may be strong but still the blows
That was his if dealt to you
In the selfsame way, at the selfsame time
Might cause you to stagger too

Don't be too harsh with the man that sins
Or pelt him with word or stone
Unless you are sure - yea, doubly sure -
That you have no sins of your own

For you know if the tempter's voice
Should whisper as soft to you
As it did to him when he went astray
It might cause you to falter too

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.

I asked for health, that I might do greater things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.

I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.

I asked for power that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.

I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.

I got nothing that I asked for but got everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.

I am, among all men, most richly blessed.

I found this poem on a little scrap of paper that was taped to the wall of the Rescue Mission when I was a Chaplin there.

It has been maybe my favorite writing outside of The Bible for years. I was about 40 when I found this.

When I read it, my spirit quickened with Life. I wondered then if this was true, but now I know that it is.
