    When interpreting the Bible, is there only one correct interpretation for the passage?

    There is one way to know the meaning of the Holy Scriptures. That is to confess your sin to God and give your life to Him. Then His Holy Spirit will dwell in you and He will lead you into all truth. God is the Author of The Holy Scriptures and He is the Only One who can teach you the true meaning.

    Mere men, who God has truly spoken to, can not teach you anything unless you ask God to open your eyes to the truth. Mere men can only point you to the Lord Jesus and His Holy Spirit as the source of all Truth.

    While there may only be one correct interpretation for a given passage of scripture, God is not limited by such an absolute. God can use the same verse or passage to comfort one man and convict another. He can use the same passage of scripture to minister dozens of different things to people, each according to his need.

    God is able to open the eyes of the simple while hiding truth from the learned.

    I agree that only the Holy Spirit can open up the true meaning of scripture, but sometimes he works through human vessels to do so. Yet even when God gifts a teacher to help open up the scripture, all praise belongs to God. It is really God at work, like electricity flowing through a conduit to bring forth light.

      Well said Blane. The Book, or a man, can teach us nothing about Truth. But God can teach us through the Book and through His chosen man.

      Psalm 19 (NIV)

      Psalm 19

      For the director of music. A psalm of David.

      1The heavens declare the glory of God;
      the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
      2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
      night after night they reveal knowledge.
      3 They have no speech, they use no words;
      no sound is heard from them.
      4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
      their words to the ends of the world.

      The heavens declare the glory of God and so does His whole creation, IF one is seeking The Truth. If one is seeking the truth God will speak to that person through His book, His man or anything in His creation.

      Nothing is His creation can speak the truth to us. For we do not even know the truth let alone be able to speak it. For we see through a foggy window for now. But God can speak through anything He pleases, even a donkey.
