Will Jesus ever deny that we are His Bride ? Will Jesus ever allow Satan to carry us off to Satan's harem, even though we still love Jesus ? Of course not ! Jesus holds us in His hand and no one can remove us from His hand. We are His bride and Jesus will always protect us.
Ephesians 5
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
This command from The Holy Spirit is eternal as everything He says is eternal. It has always been true and always will be true.
Genesis 2:24
"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."
Mark 10:6-9 - But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Matthew 19:6
So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
A husband is to honor his wife as Jesus honors us. To allow another man to carry off your wife and make her part of his harem, is not honoring her.
We are to consider our wife like part of our own body. We would never allow another man to cut off our arm or leg.
God tells us why Abraham allowed Sarah to be carried away twice:
Genesis 12
10 Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe. 11 As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know what a beautiful woman you are. 12 When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live. 13Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you.”
Genesis 20
20 Now Abraham moved on from there into the region of the Negev and lived between Kadesh and Shur. For a while he stayed in Gerar, 2 and there Abraham said of his wife Sarah, “She is my sister.” Then Abimelek king of Gerar sent for Sarah and took her.
Yes, Sarah was Abraham's sister. But that was meant to deceive the King; for Sarah was also his wife. The truth is not the truth unless it is the whole truth. There is certainly no record of God telling Abraham to say this.
Abraham lied and did not tell the whole truth. He dishonored his wife by allowing her to be part of another man's harem. This King was a believer in false gods.
But God saved Sarah from the King as He will always save us. We trust not in any mere man, but trust only in Jesus to save us.
God never asked men to sin so He could then save them from that sin. God tell all men to follow His Holy Spirit:
Romans 8:14
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. - we are to follow His Holy Spirit at all times. When we do not follow Him that is sin. We are not to lead God, He leads us.
But we need not be troubled. Abraham is not our hero, Jesus is. We and Abraham are the ones who need to be saved. Jesus alone is The Savior.
Jesus can, and will ,save us from our sin. No sin is too terrible for Jesus to save us if we confess that sin.
1 John 1
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
Abraham is the father of our faith. God says many times in the Holy Scriptures; I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God did not list any other names that He was their God. One might conclude that Abraham, and his family was the only ones left on the whole earth that still followed God instead of idols.
The Lord told me to name my one son Isaac. I certainly am very thankful for the fact that Abraham trusted in God to save him. I do not look down on him in any way. He is our brother and we should love him.
