  • Is your burden too heavy ?

Ps 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted
    and binds up their wounds.

Jesus was wounded for our transgressions. Do you want to really come to know Him ? You will have to be wounded to be able to understand The Lord who was wounded. You will have the extreme privilege of having The Creator of everything that exists, bind up your wounds.

18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Do you want to be close to The Lord? You will have to be crushed in spirit and become brokenhearted, like He was on the cross to truly come to understand Him. Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” You may cry out these same words. That is being crushed and brokenhearted. But then The Lord Jesus will come and save you from your plight by telling you that He loves you.

    Isaiah 61:1

    The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners;

Notice The Lord never once says that He was sent to save the rich, or to those who are not afflicted, or to those who are not brokenhearted. Many think that The Lord came ALSO for the sick, NO, Jesus came ONLY for the sick. Jesus said, "The well do not need a doctor". Jesus is the Great Physician. You have to be aware of your sickness to be aware of your need for Him.

    Luke 4
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
    to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

This was one of the first sermons of our Lord. You have to confess that you are blind for Him to give you sight. You have to confess that you are being held prisoner by sin, for Him to set you free.

    Matthew 11
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Are you weary ? Is your burden too heavy ? Give them to The Lord Jesus. He will take them and give you a light and easy to carry burden.

How do you think I know these things ?

Thank you brother for reminding me of this. I am certainly sick and in prison and I so need Jesus to set me free and to heal me.

Thank you guys for the replies. I am thankful that you were blessed by this, but not because I posted it. I am blessed and thankful that you know the Lord Jesus and truly recognize His ways. Many do not like these passages and even try to explain them away. But these are some of my favorite passages.

Jesus preached good news to the poor. If one is not poor, His true gospel it not good news. The Pharisees were rich and they did not like His gospel.

Lou asked, "How do you think I know these things?" My answer, By being brokenhearted? If you have never been brokenhearted it might be difficult to humble yourself before the LORD. If you have never been brokenhearted you might find it difficult to have compassion on sufferers. Here is the "biggy" - If you have never been brokenhearted you might have never looked into the mirror to see that your sins are not something you do but something you are. The great disappointment in life is that you are not what you pretend to be. And . . . and if the merciful LORD watches over you, in just such a moment of great disappointment, you hear the gospel message and the Holy Ghost brings profound conviction upon your heart. It is with heart-brokedness the sinner falls before the LORD in repentance.

Walking in the Holy Ghost is not so much about having a spiritual frame of mind or having a second blessing or being filled as it is about being humble from a broken heart because you were one of the many sinners at that cross in Jerusalem - as Amy Carmichael wrote that she was a Jerusalem sinner. In this statement of hers, we discover how she focused on Him who is the spiritual power.

Thanks Glen. I was beginning to think no one was going to answer my question. You have answered it well because you walked the same path.

This is the absolute hardest truth that I have ever accepted. To realize and admit that you are so vile is not an easy thing to do.
