Below is an email sent to me from a pastor who lives in Dallas, Texas about Michael, The Archangel
So The obvious question is WHO IS MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL ?
1ST- Let me remind everyone that it is very serious to call anyone God, who is not God. That is idolatry and a serious sin.
2ND - let me also say that it just as serious to claim that God is NOT God. The Pharisees did just that and went to destruction because of their failure to recognize Jesus as God.
Here are few clues that God Himself gave us as to who Michael IS.
Michael is called The Archangel by God. Archangel simply means FIRSTANGEL. Or the FIRST heavenly messenger. So who is ,and was, FIRST. There can be only ONE who is FIRST. Everyone else is NOT First. Did not Jesus say He is The First.
- So whose angels are all the created angels, if not The Lord's angels ?
If Satan was the most powerful created angel, who is the ONLY One who could defeat him ?
- NOTICE not a great Prince, BUT THE Great Prince. Who is The Great Prince. This Prince is not being called Great by mere men, but by God Himself.
- who has charge of The Lord's people ? Who has charge of you ? No one but The Lord Himself has charge of me. There is no mediator between God and His people. The Lord Himself is the One and Only One who has charge of them.
- Notice God does not say there is only Michael, and The Lord, who contend against the Devil for His people. BUT NONE EXCEPT MICHAEL who contend for them. Well The Lord ALWAYS defends His people and He is The One and Only One who is always faithful to do so. To claim that Michael alone defends God's people is to claim that The Lord does not do so. That is a lie from the pit.
- to claim that Michael can not be The Lord because he says, The Lord rebuke you" is NOT valid. For The Lord Himself says the very same thing:
The Lord said this to Satan because the time of judgement was not here yet. Even The Lord does not judge before the proper time.
What do you think ? Who is Michael ?

Jude: What does the archangel Michael not do?
Background: Overview Summary of Jude
Judah, one of Jesus' half-brothers, wrote the book of Jude or preached this as a sermon to Messianic believers who were familiar with Old Testament scriptures and Jewish literature. Jude refers to the prediction made by the apostles that there would be scoffers in the last times (2 Peter 3:3) and Jude declares now is the last times where scoffers without the Spirit are corrupting those to whom he is addressing (verses 18-19). He uses texts from 2 Peter to refute corrupt teachers who lived immoral lives. Not only does he illustrate God's judgment on rebellion, but he warns against rebels corrupting other people.
He then challenges those to whom he is preaching to contend for the faith and stay faithful to God. As God's new temple, believers must build their lives on the core message of Jesus and then pray, love and obey. Their lives must reflect their faith because God's grace through Jesus demands a whole-life response that includes moral living. The way they live is the most reliable indicator of what they believe.
Major Points made in the Book of Jude
Contend for Faith
Believers must contend for true Christian faith and deal with corrupt teachers who betrayed Jesus by infiltrating the church with immoral living and distorted grace.
Rebellion & Justice
Judah uses Old Testament and Jewish literature to demonstrate how rebellious people receive divine justice and warn against rebellious, corrupt teachers who reject God's messengers.
Rebellious Corruption
Old Testament examples about rebels who corrupt other people are metaphors for teachers whose self-absorption and trail of chaos betray their claim to follow Jesus.
Two Warnings
Judah gives the church ancient and recent warnings to deal with corrupt teachers. They distort Jesus' good news, but God's justice on evil is coming.
Build a New Temple
The book of Jude reminds believers in God's new temple to build faithfully on Jesus' message, pray, love, obey and stay alert for His return.

What does the archangel Michael not do?
Jude 1:9 ESV
But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”
Jude is using examples from the Bible and Jewish literature to illustrate proper responses and defiant rebellion. Jude contends for knowing one’s place and not to presume a right or position belonging only to the Lord. He reveals the humility of the archangel Michael as assuming his proper role. In the archangel Michael’s contention with the devil he did not accuse or judge the devil but deferred to the Lord to rebuke the devil.
The Bible Reveals that the Lord rebukes and judges Satan.

But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
Revelation 2:20 ESV
And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,
