Well I am very pleased to see that some do read, and remember what has been written here before. Well done Steve.

But everyone should be able to see that what the Holy Spirit revealed to me about the three stages of salvation in another passage is also revealed in 1 Peter. I feel sure that there are other witnesses to this truth all throughout The Holy Scriptures.

It would be fantastic if someone could post another passage that testifies to this truth.

In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. I had hoped someone would point out this question. The scripture states that he has given us new birth which is past tense.

But goes on to state that - until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. This is future tense.

But then states this - for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. This is present tense.

Now according to the teaching of many we are saved and it is complete, or it took place in our past ( past tense). Then why it our salvation stated here as FUTURE TENSE and then also PRESENT TENSE ?

Obviously God is not confused or inaccurate. But God states here that we have been saved, we are being saved, and we will be saved. What is going on here ?

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Notice that Peter uses the name given to him by The Lord. He does NOT choose a name for himself, but honors The Lord by keeping the name He gave him for his entire life.

John 1: ⁴² And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter).

Also we see that Peter does NOT claim any title at all, but just uses his name. He does not call himself Pope, as some claim he was the first Pope. Peter does NOT call himself, The Holy Father, or even Father. He does not claim the title of Reverend, or Pastor, or even Teacher.

For their in but ONE POPE (which means Supreme Ruler) and that is The Lord Jesus.

Jesus told us that false leaders would come claiming to be Him.

Luke 21:⁸ He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.

When any mere man allows himself to be called Pope, he is allowing himself to be called The Christ. For Christ alone in the Supreme Ruler.

Peter heard Jesus teach that no man should be called teacher, ( and of course that would also mean not to be called Pastor, Shepard)

Matthew 23 A Warning Against Hypocrisy

1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.
3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5“Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;
6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;
7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.
8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.
9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.
11 The greatest among you will be your servant.
12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

So Peter took this teaching both literally and in the spirit. He never allowed anyone to call him by any title, but simply Peter.

But we have mere men who have gone far beyond calling themselves Father, but call them self, The Holy Father, who is God Almighty alone and no mere man can call himself this in Truth.

Remember that The Lord Himself told us not to follow those that do this:

Luke 21:⁸ He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.

Some men who make this error are not monsters, but Jesus told us not to follow them for they have not learned one of the basic lessons of Christ.

11 The greatest among you will be your servant.
12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

Any mere man who claims to have been called to be an apostle should show humility and confess that he himself is a sinner often.

Peter did just this:

8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”

Only those that are aware that they are not worthy are called to the ministry of Christ.

BUT no mere man is called to be The Pope, or The Holy Father for only God alone can be called that is Truth.

We are not called to follow any mere man, or any leader except Christ Himself. There is no mediator between God and us except Christ Himself.

1 Timothy 2

5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,

For any question or need that you have always seek The Lord Jesus and Him alone.

Well, the first thing I see is that he calls us exiles, scattered throughout the lands. Our treasure is kept in heaven, and we endure hardships to purify our faith. Peter seems to strongly feel that faith is in the living hope, Jesus, who rose from the dead. He makes reference to Jesus being the living word. He says when we obey the truth, we have sincere love for each other, implying if we don't, we will not. He says our way of life before was empty, that which was handed down from our ancestors. He seems to strongly say that we must trust in God's sacrifice for us, and that's what purifies us and gives us love for one another. I don't see any mention of many things churches would have us do to be saved.
