Who would follow a God who does not even speak to them

This was written in reply to a post on another web site. The person claimed that God does not speak to people today and God does not heal today:

The fact that there are many who claim to hear from God, and do not, is no evidence that no one hears from God. You

can give your opinion but it is just that, your opinion. The Lord Jesus healed in the OT and Jesus healed everyone that

came to him and confessed their infirmity to Him in the gospels. Show me one scripture that says that Jesus does not heal

anymore. I can show you many that says Jesus does. You are the same as the atheist that says I can not know that there

is a God just because he does not know God. You say that Jesus does not heal, but Jesus has healed me many, many

times. Not only that but Jesus has healed many through our prayers. You are in the same position as the pharisees were;

they seen people healed with their own eyes but just said it was Satan and not God. I can not prove to you that Jesus

heals anymore than I can prove to the atheist that God exists. Only Jesus Himself can reveal Himself to you. But I know

that Jesus has healed me and there is no way you can prove that He did not. But I will wait for you to show me that

scripture that says Jesus does not heal anymore. And by the way Jesus walks with me and He talks with me and He tells

me I am His own. I trust in no one but Him and your unbelief does not shake my faith in Him one bit. You see just

True apostles and false apostles

Here is another reply to that same article that I wrote over 6 years ago.

If people would seek the Giver of The Gifts instead of the Gifts this error would not have happened. If they would bother to

know The Lord Jesus Christ and seek Him in His Holy Scriptures, His Holy Spirit would lead them into all truth. These men

are false prophets and anyone could see that from just listening to them. You quote Peter Wagner as saying; "This

commissioning represents a powerful spiritual transaction taking place in the invisible world. With this in mind, I TAKE THE

APOSTOLIC AUTHORITY THAT GOD HAS GIVEN ME AND I DEGREE to Todd Bentley:Your power will increase.Your authority

will increase.Your favor will increase.Your influence will increase.Your revelation will increase".- This is NOT the prayer of a

man lead by The Holy Spirit. This man does not even know the Holy Scriptures. An apostle or a prophet does not act by his

will or authority. Peter tells us that no move of God starts by the will of man. But that the prophets of old were carried

alone by the Holy Spirit. Wagner speaks here as if he has the authority to speak these things to Bentley and then transfer

power to him. Another sign that these men were walking in error is in the 1st part of this article. If the author is correct in

her saying that these men thought God was restoring the apostles and prophets to the church, then where in all of

scripture can anyone show me that God ever took the apostles and prophets from the church. Many will give all kind of

human reasons but SHOW ME SCRIPTURE. There is no more reason to say that God has taken prophets from the church

then there is to say that God has taken the Gifts of the Holy Spirit from the church. The gifts of the Holy Spirit have always

been available to those who would humble themselves and seek God and then give their life to Him. Any man who speaks

for himself does not speak for God. Did not Elisha speak by the Inspiration of the Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus when he told

Naaman how to be healed of leprosy. And did not Jesus heal the man when he did as he was told. Look at Jerusalem

before she fell in destruction. There were 200 false prophets that the people thought were true. But The Book only speaks

of one man, Jeremiah, that was speaking for God. Was Jeremiah regarded as a true prophet. Even after the prophecies

that came through Jeremiah all came true, they still did not listen to him. The words of a true prophet can only be heard,

as from God, if the person humbles himself before God and seeks God for the answer. No one can reveal the Holy Spirit of

the Lord Jesus except Jesus Himself. Look at Paul was he widely regarded as an apostle. He is now, but he was not then.

Paul tells us the signs of an apostle who is sent by The Lord Himself in 1 Cor 4:9For it seems to me that God has put us

apostles on display at the end of the procession, like men condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle

to the whole universe, to angels as well as to men. 10We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak,

but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored! 11To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we

are brutally treated, we are homeless. 12We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are

persecuted, we endure it; 13when we are slandered, we answer kindly. Up to this moment we have become the scum of

the earth, the refuse of the world.-- It would seem that not many men would even apply for being a true apostle of the Lord Jesus. - Lou

I did not study in depth, but enough to get a feel for the thorny landscape and the players, and learn from their bad example. Bently was certainly a very deceived man, who shows no evidence that he even knew God, let alone be a prophet or an apostle. Of course that does not mean he was not a child of God who was a walking in very serious error. But in any case he was no person for anyone to follow or even consider the things he said or did.

Amen Julie. When they do not hear from God, they seek men that claim to hear from Him, instead of confessing to God that they are not hearing from Him. They end up seeking men instead of seeking God.

Mere men are easy to find, finding God takes effort.

So many people are blinded to the loving, healing, miracle-working Father, who STILL heals, helps, teaches, leads.....

Yes, I have also been healed, seen God work the impossible in my life and the lives of others I am close to. I wonder, sometimes, how people can be so blinded to the gentle love of God.

Amen Linda. I have never counted the times The Lord Jesus has healed me by miracles. I am sure I am not even aware of many of the times that Jesus has saved me from great harm or even death.

God works in our lives and unless He has healed our vision man sees what we wants to see: a world without God. Where men can turn to science and its priesthood for its counterfeit answers and healing and joy and prosperity.

Lou, I ponder that often. Often. How many times have His angels blocked a danger or pulled me back? How does a child, the most accident prone creature, even have a chance to survive the years to gain a healthy awareness and skills of self-preservation? Despite the "safe" environment built by the enemy, I am sure God blesses men with many occasions of healing and miraculous deliverance beneath the notice even of those of us who trust God and eagerly watch for Him.

Job 33:12 "Behold, in this you are not right. One time, when I was young and even more foolish that I am today, I had locked myself out of the house. So I got angry and decided to break the lock on the door by running against the door. I kept hitting it harder and harder until I hurt myself by running the door knob into my ribs. I had hit the door that time with everything I had and the pain was quite severe. I could feel myself bleeding internally. I think I had broken a rib and it punctured an organ.

I crawled up the stairs and laid down on the floor of my bedroom and started to pray. I asked The Lord Jesus to forgive me and please heal me. The Lord gave me visions for maybe over an hour. I seen visions of when I was a little baby and in a car wreck. The Lord told me that Satan was trying to take my life and He saved me. This went on for a long time. I seen times that I thought myself fortunate, or had saved myself with my strength, or my intellect. Many of these times I was not even aware that I was in danger and that anything had taken place. But The Lord Jesus had saved me hundreds of times.

I had been in over 20 car accidents by the time I was 20, but The Lord preserved my life in every one. I had been very sick many times and the Lord healed me. I had been in danger in fights or someone trying to rob me, and even had people pull a gun on me.

When the vision was over I noticed the pain was gone and The Lord had healed me completely. There is just no limit to his mercy and grace.

One time comes to mind back in 1973. I had a 1973 Grand Prix with a 455HO engine. I was towing a pop up camping trailer across the Nevada dessert. I was going about 120 MPH when my tire blew out. It was as if the pavement had suddenly turned to ice at 120. I was a very good driver and could have been a race car driver at some level. I had very quick reactions and just did the right thing by instinct. I had always attributed the fact that I had not crashed that day to my driving ability. ( but in my heart I was also very thankful) But even if it was because of my ability, I did not earn this ability in any way. I did NOTHING to earn it. Most do not have this kind of ability. I am now aware that God gave me the gifts that He knew that I would need to survive my foolishness so that I could preach his gospel.

When I think of the hundreds ( maybe even over a thousand) of altercations of road rage that I was involved in over the years. One involving a motorcycles gang out in LA of over a 100 motorcycles that gathered around my car while traveling on the freeway. Many many times semis and cars tried to run me off the road, etc. Many times I was in fights or near fights where I grabbed someone by the collar. There is only one way I am still alive. That is by the grace of the Lord Jesus. In all of these fights, I was never even hit except once. ( I still have the chipped tooth from it)

I KNOW that the Lord Jesus has protected me so many times far beyond my ability to count.

I think if we all examine our lives we could identify many remarkable "saves": stupid stunts, bicycle (or horse or bull) crashes, falls from trees and barns, poking around inside electronics, fire, glass, knives, accidental gun discharges, power tool slippages, altercations, illnesses, so many near misses or nicks that could have been very serious if given another millimeter or degree. These are just a few of the visible ones.
