  • What is written on the scroll in Revelation ?

Sent from my iPad. Hi Lou! Thought I'd like to send a message . How about Rev 5:1-2 and 10-2 what is the message in the scroll??? I'm all excited to teach Rev. but surely when I'm done I think it will not just be edifying but strengthened for the race. Blessings on you and your family!! BLESSED IS YHWH!!!
Below was my answer to Charles. Charles goes to the state prison to teach every week.

    Hi Charles,

Well no one can open the seals of the scroll except The Lamb, who is Christ of course.

As He opens the seals one by one, we see the judgment of mankind coming upon the earth.

This starts in the garden with Christ speaking judgment of WAR, FAMINE, and DISEASE ( the final disease being DEATH)

The mighty angel ( in Rev 10) with one foot on the land and one foot on the sea is The Lord Jesus. For only He has a face shinning like the Sun and only He can open the scroll. It is The Angel of the Lord. This was the same one who walked in the garden with Adam. He is called The Angel of The Lord when he appears in the burning bush to Moses in Exodus. Plus there is only one who is mighty.

When the people of God hear His words they are sweet as honey when we first taste it.

I have heard what seemed like hard words from The Lord and they were sweet when I first tasted them. Even though they were fearful sounding. I was so excited to have The Lord speak to me that they were sweet.

But later when I digested them, they became sour to me. For they meant I had to die. Dying on our cross is not sweet. It is very painful and sour. We are given bitter wine to drink on our cross.

Anyone who has not experienced this bitter wine has not yet died on his cross.

Once we have fully died, the pain stops. For the dead feel no pain.

The scroll may contain the names of those who are trusting in the Lord Jesus to save them, and also not trusting in any other single thing.

We all will be given a new name that no one else knows except The Lord and us.

    Revelation 2:17 [Full Chapter]
Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
Even more exciting The Lord will reveal a New Name that no one knows except Him. Think of it a whole new nature of The Lord Jesus will be revealed.

    Revelation 3:12
The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.

    Revelation 19:12
His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.
    Grace to you

Here is another answer I sent to Charles:

The Angel and the Little Scroll
1 Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars. 2 He was holding a little scroll, which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3 and he gave a loud shout like the roar of a lion. When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders spoke. 4 And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven say, "Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down." 5 Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6 And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, "There will be no more delay! 7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets." 8 Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me once more: "Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land." 9 So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, "Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey." 10 I took the little scroll from the angel's hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour. 11 Then I was told, "You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings."
It is very important that we see that this mighty Angel is The Lord Jesus.

Those who could recognize Christ in the gospels were saved. Those who could not, were destroyed.

    Psalm 50:1 [Full Chapter]
[ Psalm 50 ] [ A psalm of Asaph. ] The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets.
Only God is truly mighty. Now mere men have been called mighty warriors upon the earth, ( Nimrod) they are only mighty upon the earth. They are nothing compared to The Mighty One. Men call many things mighty, but in heaven only One is called Mighty.

He was robed in a cloud

    Exodus 13:21
By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.
We see here the Lord was clothed in a pillar of cloud.

    Exodus 14:19
Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them,
    Exodus 19:9
The Lord said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you.” Then Moses told the Lord what the people had said.
    Exodus 34:5
Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord.
    Exodus 40:34
[ The Glory of the Lord ] Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
    Exodus 40:37
but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out—until the day it lifted.
    They followed the cloud.

    Numbers 9:22
Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out.
    Deuteronomy 1:33
who went ahead of you on your journey, in fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and to show you the way you should go.
    Deuteronomy 4:11
You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain while it blazed with fire to the very heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness.
    2 Samuel 22:10
He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet.
    1 Kings 8:10
When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord.
    1 Kings 8:12
    Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud;
    2 Chronicles 5:13
The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud,
    Job 22:14
Thick clouds veil him, so he does not see us as he goes about in the vaulted heavens.’
    Job 37:11
He loads the clouds with moisture; he scatters his lightning through them.
From the clouds come our water for natural life. From the cloud comes the water of the Word to bring eternal life.

    Ezekiel 1:4
I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal,
We see here that the Lord comes covered in a cloud.

    Matthew 17:5
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
    Matthew 24:30
“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
    Revelation 1:7
“Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen.
These scriptures should show us that The Lord Jesus comes covered in the clouds.

That alone should reveal that this mighty Angel is the Lord Jesus.

    end of part 2

    Grace to you

Lou, a questioning thought from the gallery...I have always assumed these passages meant that the Lord will write HIS OWN name on each of us, as we will belong to Him. Do you mean we each will have our own unique new names?
You know not what you do because you know not who He is.

        Hi Julie,

Thanks so much for the question.

I only know what is written.

We can see that when Jesus returns he will have a "name written on him that no one knows but he himself". This must be a new name, that is new to everyone but Him. For no one knows of this Name except Jesus.

By the scriptures in Rev 3, it would seem that new Name, of Jesus, is the name that Jesus writes on us.

But the verse in Rev 2 says that Jesus gives us a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. So that has to be a new name to us, and for us. For it would seem that everyone will see His new Name.

So Jesus writes His new Name on us, and he gives us a white stone with our new name on it.

Steve, thank you for being such a generous brother that always is quick to gives others credit.

I know nothing but what our dear Lord Jesus has revealed to me by grace and grace alone. He gave everything that I have and so I can not take any credit for anything.

David asked the Lord why He had used him to defeat the giant ? Why had The Lord shown so much grace to him ? The Lord answered David and told him it was because he wanted to show kindness and save Israel.

I once listened to a preacher encourage his people to be a champion for God as David was.

David was NOT a champion for God. God was The Champion for David and Israel.

The Lord Jesus had brought Ruth out of Moab. The Lord then had Boaz marry Ruth so the two could bring forth David and then Christ. Certainly some of the credit for anything David became belongs to Boaz and Ruth.

The Lord then had Jesse send David out to take care of the sheep. The Lord first sent small threats to prepare David to face the Bear and then the Lion. This was all to prepare David to face the giant.

The Lord gave David every skill and strength to throw a stone with the sling. But even more the Lord preformed a miracle and the stone penetrated the very thick scull of the giant.

The Lord was The Champion for David and Israel.

The Lord Jesus is the revealer of all mysteries to me and then to you.

The man who possesses Christ, possesses everything there is to possess and lacks not one thing.

We are all mere clay in the hands of The Potter.
