Can you love something you have never even heard of before.
Can you truly love someone that you have never met and know absolutely nothing about. If you do not know one thing about them, you can not love them.
You do not know if they are human or not. You do not know if they love Jesus or not. You do not know if they are God or Satan.
I hope you are coming to see that you can not love someone you know NOTHING about. What if that person turned out to be Satan, do you love him.
I have only seen my grandchildren a few times in my life. They have lived in Japan, Hawaii, Seattle, etc. I have only seen them a few times and did not really know them. Now I did know that they were my daughters children. So I could love them some, but not like I wanted to love them.
Tonight, my son in law, Tim, called me and asked me to help my grand daughter with her algebra word problems. Tim has a master's degree but these were word problems with two unknowns and very difficult for most people. I said I would be there in 15 minutes.
As I was sitting next to her and watching her struggle to understand and then seeing her light up when she did; I loved her more as the night went on. Coming to know her more was my reward for teaching her. For loving someone is it's own reward.
To know someone gives us the opportunity to love them. We can show love to a person we know little about. But it is difficult to feel love for them unless we come to know them more.
The same is true for Jesus.
We can not love Him unless we come to know Him. To know Him is to love Him.
The reason most of the world says they hate Jesus, is the fact that they do not know Him. They have been told lies about Him, so it is not Jesus that they hate, but their idea of who He is.
THIS IS WHY EVERY LITTLE TRUTH IS VERY IMPORTANT.
EVERY LIE WE BELIEVE CAUSES US TO LOVE JESUS LESS
EVERY TRUTH WE BELIEVE CAUSES US TO LOVE JESUS MORE
This is why Mary loved Jesus much and Simon loved Him little. Mary knew Jesus well, while Simon did not even know who He really was. Also Mary was forgiven of much, not because she had more sin than Simon, as he thought; but because she had confessed everything she had ever done, and said, and thought, as falling short of the glory of God ( which is sin). Simon had confessed little, so was forgiven of little. Simon did not know Jesus was a forgiving God who forgave all sin if we would only confess it.
Luke 7 Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman
36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume.38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”
“Tell me, teacher,” he said.
41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii,[c] and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”
“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.
44 Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49 The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
This is why I seek to learn every truth about Jesus that I can. For every true fact about Jesus, causes me to love Him more.
