BETRAYAL Matt.17: 22  And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:...

A couple snippets from the article to prompt you to go read it all:

    BETRAYAL
Matt.17: 22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

These words were spoken about the coming passion and crucifixion of our Lord. We understand that. But the spirit of that betrayal remains today. We have become callous in some ways to the monstrous betrayal all around us and especially by those who claim His name. If we were to be transported back to 1960 and made to sit in front of a television set and listen to so called Christian preachers we would literally be broken, horrified, and immobilized in disbelief! And yet today it has become so commonplace that we can label them as heretics and false teachers without the corresponding righteous emotion which should be felt deep inside of our hearts.
    .....

But to be honest how many believers are even interested in knowing anything about investigating the elements of their own betrayal? We are much too busy in Martha’s kitchen as well as all the demands of a western culture. Our daily schedule has been laid out for us in terms of years. And when we do see some daylight we can always squeeze in some entertainment. Let’s say you and I were whisked away by the Spirit and allowed to spend two hours in heaven before the Risen Christ. Upon our return our lives were revolutionized and the things of this world literally meant nothing to us. We were consumed with serving the One on whom we had gazed. Now the difference between our commitment then as opposed to our commitment now is the exact quantity of our spiritual compromise, or in other words our unbelief.

Awww. *hug* I feel a need to temper the author's accusatory tone. I'm sure it could have great value in the ears of many in the apostate church.

But we should take care. A man in a moment of divine wisdom once told me to be careful not to fall prey to false conviction. When the Holy Spirit convicts us we ought to take heed; when men convict us we ought to consult the Lord Jesus.

Jesus knows we are not perfect. Yet He gave Himself a sacrifice for us. He knows we are under constant attack; thanks be to God He sent us the Helper. [edit: To help set up the next paragraph I meant to say, about right here probably, that we are His children and He is patient with us.] We have exhortations to worship in spirit, offer sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving, edify our brethren, rejoice in the Lord always, and speaking to ourselves in hymns and psalms; and so many other things. While we should spend time alone with the Lord, these things I listed can be done any time, under any circumstances.

Finally, I have a question. If the Lord is all business, then what is this?

    ESV
Zec 8:5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets. 6 Thus says the LORD of hosts: If it is marvelous in the sight of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my sight, declares the LORD of hosts?

Let us acknowledge the diabolical genius of constructing a faith practice which loudly proclaims to believe in Jesus and yet whose practice does not follow Him at all. That is some spiritual magic.
I agree 100% with this part. Diabolical genius, magic.

      Hugs are good. Thank you

A bit of conviction is good for the soul, tho, eh? It made me realize I've been spending far too much time and energy on things that have taken me away from what really matters.

Yes, absolutely. Thank you for pointing this out, Julie. I would not want to imply that luke warmness is a desirable thing. I find that conviction is a motivating force and a blessing.
