Merry Christmas to you Barry, and you Steve and to everyone.

I celebrated Christmas and then when I seen that Christ was not born on Dec 25 I quit celebrating it.

But then some years ago I found out that Dec 25th is the very day that the wise men brought their gifts to Jesus who was living in a house by then.

It seems that The Lord has preserved this day to honor those wise men that traveled so far to give him these gifts.

So I now give gifts on this day to The Lord Jesus also.

        Merry Christmas Lou.
I too stopped celebrating Christmas but I still try to honor Jesus on this day. No more tree and all the stuff that goes with it. It's all about the Lord. ..... Steve

Merry Christmas to you, one and all!

I don't celebrate Christmas per se, either. No tree. No gaudy decorations. No jingling bells or santa's elves.
I set up the nativity set my mom gave me. I was with her many many (many many cough many) years ago when she bought it, so it has a special meaning to me. A few cards sent to dear friends. A gift for a couple people close to me.

          Psalm 118:24King James Version (KJV)

24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
You know not what you do because you know not who He is.

Merry Christmas to you Steve and you Julie.

I have a Christmas tree this year for the first time in more than 30 years.

When my daughter invited me to her home for dinner last Sunday, she had bought a little tree and my grandchildren decorated it for me. So it is in my living room right now.

Also she suggested having a dinner with all my children at her house Monday.

Brant called this morning and invited me over for breakfast.

This is the most time I have spent with family on Christmas for a very long time.

Merry Christmas to all. Today was a blessed day of family time. Our house is full of in-laws all week. That is, they roost here everyday, and retreat to their hotel each night. We shared a lot of laughter and I perceived some longstanding hurts between our two families beginning to heal.

Our house won first place in our subdivision of 140 homes for decorations this year. The $25 prize doesn't begin to compensate for what Tina paid our handy man to install lights way up on our second floor roof line. It was important to her. I love seeing her get excited about making our home more special, so I set aside my legalistic thoughts on the holiday. Jesus is all about love, family, and preferring one another above ourselves.

Thanks you so much for your and your wife's prayers Steve. I am very thankful for them.

I have had a inkling that something is changing in the attitudes of my children toward me.

They have been lied to about me by many people. It is hard to blame them that they believed these lies considering so many told them these things were true.

Over 30 years ago I was asked to attend a meeting where a man named Edgar Bailey preached. He had only started when the Holy Spirit fell upon the place and I knew it was all from The Holy Spirit.

He prophesied to me that I was called to be a prophet, and it was the calling of Ezekiel that he read. But it was The Holy Spirit that spoke it to me. I have never been more touched by Him in my life.

Later in that meeting he made an alter call for anyone needing prayer. I considered going up, but the slight delay made it too late for me. For the alter had filled up so fast it was stunning.

I watched as every person he prayed for, then touched their ear fell backwards to the floor. No one was there to catch them and no one got hurt. They fell backwards on a hardwood floor. Many were very elderly. No one cried out or made any sound. They just fell over backwards.

I told the Lord that I would go up if he wanted me to. But I would put one leg behind like a football stance and withstand any man pushing me over with all of my strength. I also told the Lord it was fine if He pushed me over.

I was standing there asking the Lord in total silence to bring my children back to me. I had never seen or even heard of this man before. He came up to me and said, "I will reunite your family", and then softly touched my left ear. Immediately it was as my body was gone and my head floated to the floor like a balloon. I got up right away and seen everyone else still on the floor. My girlfriend, the friend that invited me, and his girlfriend were all on the floor. His girlfriend had gotten angry when she seen these people falling backwards and said she would show everyone that it was fake. She laid there for maybe 10 minutes while he went back to preaching. They had covered her up with a blanket. She did not say a word the rest of the night. She was a very outspoken young woman, but not the rest of that night.

I counted the number that fell backwards and it was 167 and that was the same number that attended.

I have never been slain in the spirit before or since. But I have seen it take place many times in the flesh. They are as different as night and day.

Well I feel that prophecy is finally coming true.

The prophecy about my calling came true in a short period of time. But the one about my family took over 30 years.

We will not see some prophecies come true until the Lord returns.

Abraham has waited for maybe around 5000 years and is still waiting for some of the things The Lord told him to come to pass. So I guess 30 years is a very short time.

Some say there is no scripture to support being slain in the spirit, but they are wrong:

                    John 18
4 Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?”

5 “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied.

“I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) 6 When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.7 Again he asked them, “Who is it you want?”

                    “Jesus of Nazareth,” they said.

8 Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, then let these men go.” 9 This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.”

10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)

11 Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”

12 Then the detachment of soldiers with its commander and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus. They bound him 13 and brought him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year. 14 Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jewish leaders that it would be good if one man died for the people.
This is only found in the gospel of John. That is the gospel that shows that Jesus is God Almighty. So Jesus revealing to all these men who came to arrest Him that he was God Almighty.

Jesus went with them, but not before, in His mercy to them, he revealed to them who he was, and is, and will be.

The Lord was revealing to me just who was calling me to be one of his prophets. He also wanted me to know who made that promise about my family to me.

                    Grace to you
                    Lou Newton

This makes me sad, Lou. Are you speaking in real time of a current shift in attitudes? Or are you referring to an event that happened 30 years ago?

Start a little merry Christmas thread and this is what happens. Life is full of pleasant surprises. Thank you all for sharing. I had a blessed day. I have not done anything celebratory in many years. Today I spent the day alone for, I think, the first time ever. I watched The Gospel of John (2003), did some light Bible study and frivolous things, enjoyed dinner and some phone time and this thread. From its humble beginning, it turned into a surprisingly joyful day. You're in my prayers continually.
