Is it OK for a Christian to own and use a gun ?

Jesus did NOT say those who USE a sword will die by the sword.

Jesus said, Those who LIVE by the sword will die by the sword.

Now David was a man after God's heart, and David certainly USED a sword often.

But PROOF that David did NOT live by the sword is the fact that he did NOT die by the sword.

David died a very old man, peacefully in bed.

After all Jesus did NOT say that if you LIVE by the sword you MIGHT die by it. Jesus said those who LIVED by the sword WOULD DIE BY IT.

So since David did not die by the sword, that proves that he did not LIVE by it. What Jesus says is ALWAYS true, not just true part of the time.

Now Joab lived by the sword and so he died by the sword while clinging to the altar. Joab not only used the sword, but trusted in the sword rather than trusting in God.

When David appointed another as commander of the army, Joab murdered that man so he would remain head of the army.

He chose to trust in his sword, rather than trust in God who gives promotions to those he chooses, or chooses not to promote. God always gives us what is best for us. But Joab did not trust in God, but instead trusted in his sword.

So Joab later died by the sword as Jesus said.

David USED the sword, but not to attain his own desires. He instead protected the innocent and protected the people of God with his sword.

When Samuel anointed David as God's chosen King of Israel; Saul tried to kill David. But later as David was hiding in a cave from Saul ( who was chasing David to kill him ) and Saul entered the cave to relieve himself, David did not kill Saul with his sword when Saul was at David's mercy. Instead of trusting in his sword, he trusted in God to put him on the throne when God pleased.

I have read George Washington's prayer diary. He sure seemed to trust in Christ to save him. Washington first led our small nation to defeat the mightiest empire on the face of the earth. He is considered the greatest military leader of all time for that accomplishment by many military experts.

Washington also put our nation on a very strong foundation during his 8 years at President.

Washington said this about firearms:

"The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that is good "

People in Europe were not allowed to have firearms and Kings ruled them as tyrants for centuries.

When people came to America and had to fight Indians, bears, and wolves sometimes to survive, Britain did not want to spend the money to send an army to protect them, so the colonists were allowed to have firearms.

But when the people had firearms they were able to ask for their freedom from a tyrant King.

Thomas Jefferson, who was the liberal of that day, said that it was every man's DUTY to own a gun and know how to use it.

Now we have many leaders who want to take away our freedom to own firearms. Of course they are not willing to give up their bodyguards who carry machine guns as they ride in cars that are bullet proof.

But they want to take away our ability to protect our family.

History shows that it is the peoples own governments that kill the most people, by far, and not criminals, or foreign armies.

Hitler took away the firearms of the people and then proceeded to kill tens of millions of them.

Stalin did not allow the people of Russia to own guns, then later killed probably over 50 million Russians.

Mao did the same along with Pol Pot.

If the people of the US lose their right to bear arms, they will also lose the rest of their freedoms.

It amazes me that some think the people they vote for are saints that would never do them harm ( so they do not need guns to protect themselves, for these "saints" will protect them ). But they think the people of the other party are very evil. So how can they guarantee that the evil ones will not get into power.

We do not trust in firearms, but we trust in Jesus.

But we are not to jump off of a tall building, trusting God to save us. Just as Jesus did not tempt God by jumping off of the temple to demonstrate his trust in God.

When a wise man sees a storm approaching. He prepares for the storm.

We should be able to see a storm is approaching.

More guns mean less violence

Sorry I have not posted for a while, but I was pretty busy for a few days.

I helped a man replace the brake lines on his Honda Civic and it was a pretty difficult job.

Barry ( Baruch ) drove from Portland Oregon to eastern Ohio and stopped to spend some time together.

We had dinner the night he arrived at my son's restaurant and then we stayed up sharing experiences we had had with Jesus until almost 4 AM. The next morning we had breakfast together and then went a for a 5 mile hike while we talked. He left for eastern Pa after 4 PM that day.

Please pray that Barry has a safe trip. We plan to go camping together next week in Pa if time permits.

There are many who claim gun violence is caused by many people having access to guns.

This is like blaming obesity on forks instead of on people who overeat.

Forks do not put food in the mouths of people, people do. Just as guns do not shoot people, people do.

Switzerland has had a gun culture for as long as guns have existed. In fact there are more real assault rifles in Switzerland per person than any other developed nation. These are NOT semi auto magazine fed rifles but full auto magazine fed rifles. They are Steyr AUG's and were banned in the US as dangerous weapons. Every able bodied man has to join their military and train with the Steyr AUG. He then takes the Steyr AUG home along with his uniform and ammo. Almost every home has a Steyr AUG in it. Switzerland has the lowest rate of violent crime in the developed world.

Criminals think twice before breaking into any home, knowing that the owner probably has a Steyr AUG and knows how to use it.

I know several men who go to prisons to minister and also several guards at prisons. They have told me that in talking with inmates, the inmates claim their biggest fear is approaching a possible victim and finding they have a gun.

Violent crime is the highest in cites where guns are banned. The criminals pay no attention to gun laws and have guns. But the law abiding citizens obey the laws and so are preyed upon by the criminals and have no protection against them.

The citizens of Mexico are not permitted to own guns. The drug cartels and other criminals do not obey these laws and so have guns. This leaves the innocent people at the mercy of drug cartels and other criminals. Cartels have gone into small towns, that defied them, and murdered the entire town. These cartels have made some really ugly demands on these people that they simply "could not" obey. They would rather die than obey, and so they and their children all died.

Israel was a nation that followed God at times. Men there were allowed to have weapons to protect their family.

The Lord tells us that a man who does not provide for his family is worst than an infidel.

1 Tim 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.


Certainly we need to provide food, shelter and clothing for our loved ones. But is not safety even more important. A dead child has no need of food or shelter. And is not love even more important yet. How would a little child know that a father loved them if that father watched as someone murdered them and did nothing.

I know the Lord loves me by the way He takes care of me. A child learns that they are loved by the care that is showed to them.

I have weapons in my house to protect my family. I taught my children how to use them and even more important the rules of safety in their use. Gun safety was reviewed every time we used them. They had to demonstrate proper safety to me constantly.

If one has a swimming pool in their backyard, the best way to protect their children is to teach them to swim well and proper pool safety. More children die in swimming pools than by guns, yet no one is calling for a ban on swimming pools. That is because citizens with swimming pools can not resist a tyrant government; but a citizen with a gun can.

Lenin took over Russia with the help of those he called "useful idiots". After Lenin was in charge some of those who helped were murdered or put in prison. We have many people in this nation that are helping our government take away our freedoms. The government will treat them the same as Lenin treated those who helped him.

BTW, Trotsky was the brains behind the Red Revolution in Russia. But after Lenin died, Stalin had assassins chase Trotsky all the way to Mexico and murder him with a hammer.

What nation has the largest standing army in the world ?

Everyone likes their nation to be secure from the attack of a foreign army.

When the US told Japan that we would not sell them any more oil because of the war of aggression they were fighting in China, their leaders were forced to either stop their wars, or take over the oil wells of another nation. Japan knew that the US would intervene if they tried to take over the oil wells in Indonesia.

So the leaders of Japan decided to sink the Pacific fleet of the US with a surprise attack. They also wanted to attack California at the same time and take over the Pacific ports. But their smartest naval officer, who had been educated in the US (Isoroku Yamamoto) who was to lead the attack on the US, objected strenuously. He told his superiors that they did not understand how difficult that would be because every American citizen owned a gun and would defend their land. He told them that "there would be a gun behind every blade of grass". The fact that the US citizens were allowed to own guns was the reason Japan was not able to attack California.

The US was not prepared for war and Japan had been fighting a war since 1937 and even before that. They were prepared for war. If they had been able to attack California our military would not have been able to stop them.

It was the fact that the US had THE LARGEST STANDING ARMY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD (the citizen militia), that Japan did not attack. The US has today about 150,000,000 citizens who own guns. That makes those people the largest standing militia in the world. That gives our nation more security than we could ever afford with a professional army.

Not to mention that a professional army can be used against it's citizens. But a militia of 150,000,000 can keep any professional army from taking over that nation. That is why there are many world and US leaders who want to disarm the citizens of the US. Make no mistake they want to confiscate our firearms so they can take over our nation.

Also, make no mistake, the first step in confiscation of our firearms, is to register those firearms. Once it is known who has them, they can divide and conquer, by confiscating one person, or one group, at a time.

First they will try to declare that many citizens have a mental illness. Then they will take those weapons. They will divide us into groups and take the weapons of each group, until we there are too few people to resist their tyranny.

IF WE ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE DISARMED, WE LOSE THAT MILITIA OF 150,000,000 SOLDIERS. That would leave us open to the attack of a foreign army, or a tyrant using our own army against us.

This is why Thomas Jefferson said it was every man's DUTY to own and know how to use a firearm. Our nation was depending on that citizen militia to defend the US from any foreign army. Both England and France considered attacking the US ( England of course did so in 1812) but it was the citizen militia that defended the land.

The people of the US DID NOT WANT, OR WOULD NOT TOLERATE A STANDING PROFESSIONAL ARMY IN THEIR NATION. Many had been the victims of a professional army in the land that they had left to come to America.

It was citizen soldiers that fought the revolution and it was citizen soldiers that kept our nation safe for many years.

It as not until we got involved in foreign wars that we had a professional army. Rome became great by requiring every able bodied man to be in the citizen army. When Rome established a professional army that was one of the things that brought about it's downfall. The final fall came about when Rome allowed foreigners to be in their army, just as the US is doing today.

When the senators of Rome no longer had to fight in the wars, they sent the army to invade foreign lands. After all it was not their sons that would die in that war.

When every able bodied man has to serve in the militia, then the ones who vote for war also have to fight the war. I am much less likely to vote for war if I am sending my own son who might die in that war.

A nation fights far fewer wars when every able bodied man has to fight in that war.

I agree with you that our nation is slowly being tricked into loosing their rights. We are surrounded by lazy people that want someone else to do everything for them. Including protection.

We must be willing to do things for ourselves, including protection of our families and homes. Unfortunately, America is on vacation and will not be back until it's too late. Everyone wants to party and leave the work for someone else.

I am at a loss of how ignorant most people are as to what is going on around them. It's the same thing with the appeasing of the enemies and believing they will turn into our friends if we give them enough gifts and overlook all of their treachery.

We live in the times of Isaiah as we have replaced good for bad and bitter for sweet. ..... Steve

Sad but true.

I am 71 and The Lord has protected me so far so I have not had to shoot anyone.

But I have had to pull a gun on someone more than once, or I would not be here. I used to drive a moving van for North American Van lines. Everyone who worked for the local agents knew we had thousands in cash on us to operate. They tried to rob me several times.

The first attempt, I was not armed and had to defend my self with a tire knocker. Thankfully it was only one man that attacked me, but he made at least two of me. By the time he jumped back down off of my truck his arm must have look like a piece of raw meat. I hit him with my tire knocker as fast and as hard as I could. I was on my way home and stopped on the way to buy a 9mm Browning High Power. That gun probably saved my life more than once.

One time there was a whole gang waiting for me to pull into the agents parking lot. There must have been about a dozen men and they pulled an old truck across the driveway to block my exit. They jumped on my truck and climbed up the steps and found themselves looking into the barrel of the Browning. They dropped off of my truck so fast it was hard to believe my eyes. He said, " he is going to shoot our ___", and they started that truck and were all out of there in seconds.

I slept the rest of the night with that Browning very close to me. The next morning all of the help was very quiet and odd acting. I figured it was many of them that tried to rob me the night before.

When crossing into Canada. or into New York city, I was not allowed to have a gun. I either had to pawn it, give it away, or hide it in the dash board. You will have to guess which I did.
