  • Did some grilling last night

I haven't grilled since the beginning of the summer. I grilled some chicken (only the second time I've ever grilled chicken). I grilled three packages of wings. The first two turned out decent, but the third package was perfect. I grilled an extra package for one of my friends from church because I promised him that I'd cook some for him the next time I grilled out.

I want to buy one of those metal plates with the holes in them and grill some vegetables. Anyone ever done that before? What else besides red meat is good for grilling?

    Hi Karl,

Thanks for telling us about your experience grilling. I too like grilled food but do not do it much unless someone invites me to their place. I live in an apartment and have no place to grill.

If you want to grill vegetables you may want to try using metal or wooden skewers. Put the vegetables on the skewer and then a piece of meat and then keep up this one then the other until the skewer is filled. Leave some of the skewer exposed at both ends though. You can put these on the same grill you put the chicken on. You do not need the metal plates. Also the meat gives the veggies a good flavor and the veggies add to the meat.

      Hi, Karl,

I'm told grilled corn on the cob is easy and tasty. You can either wrap the corn, in husks, with aluminum foil, or soak the corn a few hours and grill it in the unprotected husk. No fuss, no muss. My instructions are poor because I haven't tried this yet. I was going to try it when Lou and I went camping, but rain and a raccoon-turned-corn-thief changed our plan. You can probably find recipes for this on the web.

Any veggie can be steamed over a grill by wrapping in aluminum foil pockets with a sprinkling of water.

I chased that Raccoon ( it had a black mask over his eyes) with my flashlight. But it ran into a thicket. We could hear it eating Barry's corn on the cob.

Yes, it sure did. We thought that crunching would never end. The next morning we found the ears of corn with not one kernel left on them.

If we ever do this again, we will bring more corn and leave it in the cooler and the cooler in the trunk of the car until we are ready to grill the corn.

So Karl, don't bring your food out till your ready to put it on the grill. Raccoons are everywhere !
