  • I heard this today

Some people are so poor, that all they have is money.

I found this to be interesting and also as far as I can see, it is true.

What do you think? ..... Steve

I could see this might be debated in the natural for a person, Steve. But I think it is effectively true in the spiritual for anyone who does not have Jesus. Whether it's money or a combination of something else, if one doesn't have Jesus he has nothing of real worth. I can definitely think of scripture that speaks of this. Many think they have a rich life but do not. I was one once. It's a saddening and sobering realization to encounter many such people daily.

    Thank you for the thought.

Amen Steve. This is true, if all someone has is money they have nothing but printed paper. Even in the natural, they having nothing of real value; but only perceived value. Printed money is not even very good for toilet paper. Toilet paper would be much better for that purpose. One could use it to light a fire or even burn as fire. But a cord of wood would do much better.

People in Germany back in the Wiemar Republic thought they had money that was of value. Some had lots of it in the banks. But the government kept printing more and more until the money was worth so little that no one would bother to cross the street to get it out of their bank. They had to negotiate their wages in the morning and again at noon. In the end the money was worth more as toilet paper than as money.

Our money is headed that way. Many who think they have much will find they have nothing.

But even if someone had gold instead of paper money, they would have nothing of real eternal value if that is all they had.

They can not take one ounce of gold with them. Not one ounce.

The scriptures tell us that the person who possesses Jesus has everything there is to possess and lacks not one thing.

Very good thought to share Steve. Thanks.

"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." (emphasis mine)

Thanks for the scripture Tom. It is always so good to read what The Holy Spirit of The Lord Jesus says.

I was taking with Steve this morning on the phone and we were talking about this and other things.

Even gold only has a perceived value and not much real value. One can not eat or drink gold.

If a group of people were on a ship that sank and stranded out at sea in a small life boat with no food or water it would tend to show what was of real value in the natural.

If one man had a bag of oranges and another had a bag of gold. The bag of oranges would of course be a far greater value. The oranges could sustain natural life, the gold could not.

A foolish man might still trade the oranges for the gold.

But even the oranges can only sustain natural life, which is not eternal and not real life. Only Jesus can sustain eternal life with His Holy Spirit. No one will enter heaven without having His Holy Spirit.
