  • Why God made Eve out of Adam's rib

When The Lord realized that Adam was not happy, He told Adam that He would make a companion for him. The Lord told Adam that she would bear his children, and never wake him in the middle of the night to care for them, but do it herself. The Lord told him that she would cook and clean without complaining and always have a smile on her face, and she will never nag. The Lord said, she will be called woman.

Adam asked what she would cost him. The Lord said, an arm and a leg.

Adam answered, what can I get for a rib ?

Answer: American Woman. But seriously I have an American woman as my wife and she fits the description but it was a free gift from God I most certainly didn't deserve and still don't. She never woke me to care for the children. Always cooked and cleaned for me with a smile. A brilliant God fearing woman. I am rich. Thank you Jesus.

I know Steve's wife ,Jan, and he is being truthful here. Also she did not cost him an arm and a leg.

Adam had 13 ribs. Does that make him in some respect wiser than Solomon?

Barry, thanks for the reply, but you need to explain this to me. Maybe it is because I am sick today.

Why would having 13 make him wiser ?

BUT almost all of mankind has 12 pairs of ribs. Woman do not have 13 pairs.

Also I have read more than one place that if a rib is removed the right way, it will grow back in a few months.

So it seems that God chose the rib, because it had the DNA and also it would grow back with no lost to Adam.

It seems to me that Adam had 12 pairs of ribs just as we all do today.

Plus it does not say that God used Adams ribs, but Adam's rib. If Adam had 13 and God used one that did not grow back, then Adam would still have 13 on one side.

I know you have much more knowledge about the medical field than I do, so please correct me where I am wrong.

          What do you think ?

God is awesome. I didn't know about the rib growing back. There is never a loss with God.

You are a deep thinker, Lou. I only mean that Adam cold have bargained for 13 wives, but he stuck with one. In contrast, Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, acquired more wives than he had ribs.

(My bad. I thought we all have 13 ribs. Please substitute the right number in my responses.)

I am too serious at times, and I did not see your point that you made very clear here, thanks. Yes, one could say that Adam, being satisfied with one wife, was far wiser than Solomon in this respect. For Solomon had hundreds and was not happy with any. One could argue that Solomon ended up not thinking much of women. Of course he pursued the wrong women. It seems he sought those that had beautiful flesh instead of those who had a beautiful spirit and loved The Lord. Those that truly love The Lord Jesus have a beauty of the spirit which is deeper and also lasts forever.

If any of Solomon's wives were dug up and displayed, would anyone think that their rotting flesh was beautiful. This kind of beauty is very temporary. Far before death few woman retain this kind of beauty very long.

Those that love The Lord Jesus will live forever with a beauty that far surpasses the flesh.

Thanks for the link to the other thread about Adam's rib. I highly recommend everyone to read that whole thread again.
