  • Neanderthals butchered their own

There is strong evidence that the Neanderthals butchered their own kind, and there is also evidence that they ate their own kind. This may well be the what caused their extinction. Even Lions do not eat other Lions. In fact they will not even eat other cats of any kind. They hate hyenas and kill them, but they do not eat them. They do not eat other animals that consume animals for food, OR they do not eat animals that consume blood. They only eat animals that eat plants. God commands man to do the same. We are not to eat animals that consume other animals. OR we are not to eat animals that consume blood.

    Neanderthals 'thoroughly' butchered their own

(NEWSER) – Neanderthals appear to have had quite the appetite for, well, one another, at least according to findings by researchers at the University of Tübingen in Germany. Reporting in the journal Scientific Reports, they say that an analysis of 99 new Neanderthal remains from a cavern in Belgium that date back roughly 40,000 to 45,000 years "provide unambiguous evidence of Neanderthal cannibalism in Northern Europe." What's more, they add that in the period immediately before they died out, there was "considerable diversity in mortuary behavior." In other words, for reasons that can only be guessed, Neanderthals of the not-too-distant past skinned one another, sliced into their bones, and even extracted bone marrow, reports UPI.

The team's complete analysis of the mitochondrial DNA of 10 Neanderthals doubles the existing genetic data on a species that died out around 30,000 years ago and confirms previous research suggesting that, due to the low genetic variation, late European Neanderthals were closely related. The Guardian, which calls the latest finding of intentional butchery "grisly," notes that Neanderthal cannibalism has also been suspected in findings in Spain and France, while four bones have suggested that Neanderthals at the very least used the remains of deceased brethren as tools. (Perhaps Neanderthals were tasty; after all, we modern humans may have hunted and eaten them into extinction.)

There has been a debate ever since the Neanderthals were discovered, of why they went extinct. What happened to them ?

I think the fact that they consumed one another could have well been the reason they went extinct. I do not mean to say that they killed one another until they were very few left; BUT I do mean that consuming your own kind brings very serious and fatal diseases.

Further the Lord gave us laws of what we should eat and what we should not eat. His laws are for our good and NOT to forbid things for no reason.

We are not to eat anything that consumes other animals and therefore eats blood. Since we ourselves eat other animals, that makes eating other humans against the laws of God, even if that human is already dead and did not require killing.

God allows man to eat animals as long as they are herbivores. We are not to eat carnivores or omnivores that both eat other animals and therefore consume blood.

I hope someone has some thoughts about this.

There seems to be evidence that Neanderthal was very intelligent, perhaps near or equal to us. Yet that intelligence did not stop their self-destruction. Very interesting article, Lou. God warns that a people who are under judgement, for whom there is no remedy, will eat their own families. This is horrific to consider.

It may be in the future for here. It happened in Jerusalem.

Thanks for the replies Barry and Steve.

There has been cannibals in the world probably all down through man's history. There are present day tribes in Borneo that eat their dead. This behavior has caused "mad cow disease" among them. It has caused them much problems and disease.
