Money Every Day
Passing the television, some guy said, "I tell young people, 'You will think about money every day of your life until you die.'" It was the simplicity of that statement that struck me as profound. In modern society money is the common medium of exchange. Prices and the limits upon what may be purchased control many of the decisions of all but the well-to-do. Having more money seems the goal for many, even those with lots of it. Modern life on earth is dominated by money from both the incomes and expenses. It is the way of this world. Accordingly, it can readily be understood why the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, "The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil."
On the other hand, Christians are thinking on the Lord Jesus every day of their life until they die. Unlike the focus of this world, which is on money, the focus of Christians is the Lord Jesus. The primary work of sanctification within Christians is performed daily by the Holy Spirit – the Lord Jesus every day. Some of the work of the Holy Spirit in us is described in John 16:12-15.
John 16 ESV
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore, I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
